Walking Basketball Term One 2026

When: Wednesday’s 6:30pm, from 25th February – 1st April.
Where: Parakiore Recreation Centre (Show Courts)
Who: Anyone is capable of playing. Great for family teams, friends or those wanting to get more active through basketball
Cost: $10/individual each night ($60 for all of Term One).

Walking Basketball is a low impact, yet dynamic and fast paced way to enjoy basketball.
Games are played with five players per team on court for two 20-minute running clock periods. Points are scored per normal basketball scoring (2 points in the arc, and 3 points outside the arc). The differences are:
- No free throws. Instead on shooting fouls the team fouled is awarded two points if the basket misses, or an additional point for a made basket.
- Players cannot run. A fast walk is allowed but will be managed by the referees.
- No jumping. One foot must remain on the ground at all times.
- No dunking. Only exception is if you can dunk without a foot leaving the ground.
