Programs

Canterbury Basketball Helps facilitate a wide range of programs, covering players, coaches, statisticians and officials.

Primary/Intermediate School basketball competitions are largely delivered by our clubs

We deliver top level High School competitions, and School Sport Canterbury provides competitions at a more social level.

Club basketball runs alongside school competitions, and provides meaningful competition all the way through an adult basketball player’s life.

Playing is just one part of the basketball puzzle, we also help with the following:

  • Training and providing officials to referee all around the country
  • Our Community Coach helps with mentoring and upskilling coaches
  • We can organise sessions to help people learn how to take basketball statistics during games

Other programs are also offered:

  • Representative basketball (U13 – U23 teams compete in South Island or NZ Championships)
  • Hoops Academies – a good way for players in school (from Year 0) to get their skills developed
  • Holiday Programs are advertised on our site and calendar whenever we, or one of our clubs, run one
  • Midnight Basketball  is a 7 week long basketball Tournament held on Friday Nights and is targeted at 13 – 18 year olds, who are keen to play basketball, make some new friends, and learn some new skills.
