Canterbury Basketball Association Privacy Policy

 

Introduction

Canterbury Basketball Association (“CBA”) respects the privacy of its members and is committed to protecting your privacy.

When dealing with personal information we comply with the Privacy Act 2020.  This policy does not limit or exclude any of your rights under the Act.  If you wish to seek further information on the Act, see www.privacy.org.nz.

 

Collection of Your Information

CBA will only collect personal information that is connected to a function or activity we carry out, and only where the collection of that information is necessary for that function or activity.

You agree that your use of our website or any product or service provided by us, or your membership of CBA/an affiliated club, indicates acceptance of this Policy and you authorise us to collect, use and share your personal information as outlined in this Policy.

We collect information about you (including, without limitation, your name, contact details, age, photograph or other details shown in media, gender, medical/emergency information and payment details) from the information you provide us when you are talking to us, making purchases from us, filling out forms or registering on-line.

As per Book 2 of the Basketball New Zealand Regulations, each participant involved at an affiliated association must be registered online (refer to Part 3 – Member Database). A participant’s status must be recorded in “The Huddle”, BBNZ’s official registration system (powered by GameDay). A participant must self-register into the system via the prescribed registration form.

We also collect information about you from game results or training sessions, or the comments you provide to us.  This information is used to register you and/or your team for games, tournaments and training camps, to contact you about up-coming events involving basketball, basketball products, or offers from our sponsors that we think you might be interested in, to process payments and to provide our services to you.

We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties.

We receive and collect the name of the domain and host from which you access the Internet; the Internet protocol (IP) address of the computer you are using; the browser software you use and your operating system; the date and time you access our site; and any search engine or inbound hyperlink used to reach this website. This information is used only for statistical purposes and in regards to how we may enhance the customer experience.

If you do not provide personal information that we have requested, you may not be able to obtain or access the services for which the personal information is required.

 

Photos & Video

  • Where you upload a profile picture on The Huddle you understand that that will be held by us on our system, and may be viewed by CBA members and administrators. If you attend a CBA-sanctioned competition, training session, camp or tournament you may be photographed and/or videoed. Photographs and video may be used as training tools, for constructive advice, to emphasis skills and for game planning.  This means photographs and videos of you may be shared with our CBA members and training and administration staff.
  • We also collect and publish photographs and videos from our events and competitions, or those run by our affiliated clubs, that are run in public venues on our website and social media channels.
  • These photos and videos may be viewed by anyone visiting our website or social media pages. If you see a photo or video you do not wish to be included please contact us.

We will collect and use your personal information legally and fairly, and for the following purposes:

  • To process and fulfil your registration and or applications, any order you place with us, including sending emails to confirm these services to you, as well as sending CBA sports communications;
  • To verify your identity and to assist you if you have forgotten your username or password;
  • To communicate with you and to send you information by email, post or other means about our products, services and promotions, where you agree to receive such information;
  • To help us learn more about your preferences and personalise our website or our services in accordance with your preferences;
  • To analyse trends and statistics;
  • To improve or update this website and our products/services;
  • To protect the security or integrity of our website and our business;
  • To respond to your enquiries and communicate with you if necessary;
  • For any other purpose authorised by you or the Act; and
  • To comply with any laws in New Zealand or overseas applying to us.

 

We may disclose your personal information to:

  • Debt collection agencies;
  • Organisations conducting PR campaigns, marketing and media accreditation systems for us;
  • Organisations conducting market research, data processing and statistical analysis for us;
  • Our assignees or potential assignees;
  • Anyone that we need to contact to carry out your instructions to us (including the recipient of any payment);
  • Upon receipt of a request by a person who can require us to supply your personal information (e.g. a regulatory authority);
  • Upon receipt of a request by any other person or body authourised by the Act or another law (e.g. a law enforcement agency);
  • Any person or body where legislation requires us to disclose your personal information (eg Government agencies); and/or
  • Any other person authourised by you.

We will only hold your personal information for as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, unless otherwise required by law.

 

Website and Credit Card Security

We take website and credit card security seriously, and always endeavour to provide a secure safe platform on which to conduct online transactions.  CBA’s online registration and payment system is provided by Stack Sports Australia Pty Limited, trading as GameDay. Privacy Breaches

If we believe the breach has caused serious harm, or is likely to do so, we will notify the Officer of the Privacy Commissioner as soon as possible. We will also notify you of a serious breach as soon as practicable.

 

Changes to our Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to change this privacy policy from time to time by publishing the revised privacy policy on our website. We encourage you to check this policy regularly for any modifications or updates. Your continued use of our Services after any changes have been posted on our Website indicates your acceptance of those changes.

After you cease to be a member or after your relationship with us ends, we will no longer use your personal information unless authourised to by you, or required to by law.

 

Access to Your Personal Information

You have the right to access your personal information.
