Girls’ basketball is booming in 2025 with 122 girls at GLOW and strong pilot programs like Hoop Queens taking off. We’re excited to keep growing—join us as a player, coach, or volunteer!
Term 1 kicked off 2025 with strong momentum in the girls and women’s basketball space across Canterbury.

GLOW Fest returned in March with 122 girls taking part across two sold-out sessions, proving how popular this event is with the 7–12 age group. The mix of 3×3 basketball and dance-party vibes continues to be a hit, with growing interest setting the stage for future offerings.

Hoop Queens launched this year, introducing two pilot programs designed specifically for women and girls. These spaces focused on skill development, confidence building, and creating inclusive basketball environments. With positive feedback and strong engagement, Hoop Queens is set to grow in 2025. For younger girls, we saw great bridging between GLOW and school team participation—showing the impact of creating consistent, fun entry points into the game. For the women, we saw players taking the next step in their basketball journey at mid-week women’s social games.

Girls Got Game in Term 1, we worked with around 140 girls, through school activations. Our passionate female coaches continue to champion the game, making meaningful connections and growing the game from the ground up.
We look forward to expanding our reach and working with more schools across the remainder of 2025. The future for girls’ basketball in Canterbury is bright!
