Etiquette in Younger Grades – We ask that all coaches are to be mindful of the impact they have on people wanting to continue in basketball (both on their team, opponents; and referees). I do my best to try and schedule teams against others of similar ability, but there will always be some games where blow-out wins and losses occur. In the sub-grades especially, where the focus is development and enjoyment (with none of these teams playing on our respective Finals days), coaches should be aware of the impact their tactics can have on opposing players wishing to continue in the sport (an obvious example is constant full-court pressing, when the opposing team does not have the ability to handle it, and the scoreline matches this). Please read our Etiquette Memo if you need areminder here
SAS Slam – Our friends in North Harbour are running this tournament again. They have a number of grades on offer, all with stop-clock games, run over Labour Weekend. Please see the SAS Slam Flyer for more info, or go to sasslam.co.nz
Rams Playoffs – The NBL updated their schedule yesterday to guarantee the Canterbury Rams hosting their semi-final at 3pm on Sunday 21 July, and if they win that playoff game, and are the highest seed, they will host the Grand Final at 3pm on Sunday the 28th of July. Tickets for their playoffs will go on sale to the public on 15 July
