2024 Finals Week Draw

We’re now into the final weekend of games for most teams – the only teams playing after this week are ones who have qualified for that stage of the post-season (or in a few instances, we have one more scheduled game to help complete the format for a grade).

August 17 and 18 will be the Final Game of the 2024 Winter Club Season for every team except:

  • B13 – Winner of Horomaka/Gators Grey and NC Tigers/Kahu A
  • G13 – Winner of NC Maroon/Pioneer Blue and Halswell/Checkers White
  • B15A – Winner of Cashmere Maroon/StAC Blue and STC A/Horomaka Gators Blue
  • G16 – Gators and Checkers (both teams have qualified before this weekend’s game)
  • B17 – Winner of Kaiapoi Blue/Horomaka Gators Blue and Cashmere Maroon/Shirley Spartans Gold
  • M20 DI – Top two teams from Pool A and Pool B (Rolleston Hawks cannot make the playoffs, but the other three Pool A teams can, All Pool B teams can qualify)
  • M20 DII – Top two teams from Pool A and Pool B (StAC Checkers White cannot make the playoffs, but the other three Pool A teams can, Checkers Black cannot make the playoffs, but the other three Pool B teams can)
  • M23 Championship – Top Four teams from the Championship section (only Wolverines has been eliminated)
  • M23 Plate – Top two teams will play on 24 August (LU Bulls, Gators Red, Checkers Black can all qualify. Other three teams cannot)
  • M23/M20 Crossovers – Checkers White and Pioneer White will play (Synergiers TBD, along with Gators Grey M20 and Horomaka Gators White M20 are TBD)
  • French Cup – Winner of StAC/Checkers and Gators/Halswell
  • Women’s Division One – Winner of Atami/Pioneer (Halswell and UC will both play on the 25th and/or 31st)
  • Men’s Division One – Winner of each Quarter Final Game. Pioneer White will play the loser of Wolves Black/Wolves Blouses on August 25
  • Women’s Premier – Winner of Atami/UC will join North Canterbury, Checkers and LU in the playoffs
  • Men’s Premier – Checkers/Gators and Pioneer/Atami will be the playoff match-ups on August

The teams which finished up last weekend had all been advised individually

Cumulative Technical Foul Warning – A reminder that Richard keeps track of all report T/U and D fouls. A reminder that a one-game suspension is imposed after the third sort of foul for the season, even if it is a playoff or Grand Final (or will be rolled over to 2025 if a player has not qualified)

First Team Winners – Junior teams will start being publicly announced soon, and we’re now collecting the Senior Team votes (so this will be the weekend to get those photos ready!)

Enjoy this Part of the Season – You’re not likely to be part of exactly the same team next time, so remember to enjoy these last few games. The camaraderie is one of the key reasons people play team sports, so we hope you, and your teams, enjoy the 2024 season coming to its conclusion

Finals Week Draw – this still a draft until we see which teams qualify, but should not be expected to get altered very much (if at all)

Lastly, we  would like to thank all of you for the efforts you go to, to help get teams on the court competing in such a large community – we wouldn’t be in the great place we are without the work you all go to preparing and/or organising your teams, so kia ora to you all.
