As Clive finishes up his career, he has one final message for the Canterbury Basketball Community
As we close the office today for the Christmas break, I personally bring the curtain down on my career in Sports as I retire from working life. It’s been an honour and privilege to lead Canterbury Basketball for the last six years, and I have come to enjoy basketball, more than my first love in life (football).
As a community you have been brilliant; open to new ideas and willing to allow me to mould the organisation into a structure that I’m sure will allow the sport to flourish in years to come. We have so many that give so much to the sport – ordinary people doing extraordinary things for a sport they love.

Our clubs do a fantastic job in introducing youngsters to the sport and our leagues from u13 upwards are the best in the country.
Our Development programmes for players, coaches and referees are outstanding, as proved by the 13 National age groups titles Canterbury has won over the last five years.
Off court we strive to seek and use resources to the maximum, as well as place the association in a position of stability, to be able to move forward with confidence.
We have this year secured Parakiore as the main venue for community basketball, from the 2026 season onwards and this will allow more teams to enter the leagues, after a “freeze” for the past four seasons.
As a General Manager the true test is whether the organisation is in a better position than when they started and I hope that as a community, you all see that it is. I believe that as I leave the position we are a strong committed community delivering the best possible experience for those that play the sport, and CBA is now the trusted leader for basketball in the community.
I am sure this will continue and the sport will go from strength to strength.
So it’s goodbye from me with best wishes for the future.
Merry Christmas from us all and have a happy, safe and healthy New Year.
