Two Cantabrians will be flying the NZ flag as they look to qualify for the 2019 U19 World Cup
The 2018 Junior Tall Ferns have just started their travel to India to compete in the 2018 FIBA U18 Asian Championship. A top four finish in this tournament will see the Junior Tall Ferns book their place in the 2019 FIBA U19 Women’s Basketball World Cup.
Two of our U19 Waitaha Representatives – Sofia Kennedy and Charlotte Whittaker – flew out of Christchurch earlier today. Sofia Kennedy also represented the Alloyfold Canterbury Wildcats in the WBC this year, with Whittaker joining her in the WBC Premier South team that played against the University of Hawai’i.
Their mood was one of excitement and optimism as they left to join the rest of their teammates in Auckland. It wasn’t only players representing Canterbury at the tournament, with Senior referee Manager Marty Davison also representing New Zealand at the tournament.
