With weekend basketball set to tip off tomorrow, Clive Beaumont issues what is hopefully his final COVID Statement!
Kia ora Everyone,
I write this on the eve of the 2020 Basketball season commencing here in Canterbury and like many of you I am excited to finally see some serious action on the Courts.
The CBA team have worked hard to get the season underway as swiftly as we could bearing in mind considerations over player training requirements and club administration requirements.
We tip off tomorrow with the Men’s Premier; Under 23 and Under 20 Competitions with the Women’s Division One/U21 and Men’s Division One starting on Sunday.
As a “newbie” to the sport I am keen to see games and over the next few weeks and throughout the season I will be around and about the different venues. I am keen to meet players, coaches and the general basketball community here in Canterbury, so please feel free to come over and have a chat with me about the game or the running of the sport, as I am always open to ideas and feedback to enable me to get a picture of the things we do well, and not so well.
Good luck to all the teams competing in the various leagues this season. I hope, after such a long wait to play, you all enjoy your basketball and appreciate how fortunate we are to be playing sport again.
Play well, play hard but play fair and respect all others in the game.
Ngā Mihi and Kind Regards,
Clive Beaumont
