The ranking committee for the Whelan Trophy Competition have now released their preseason expectations for teams in Division One
The ranking committee has ranked last year’s Division One Champion to have a repeat championship this season
McDonald’s Whelan Trophy Pre-Season Ranking
The format for Whelan Division One will be a full round robin (9 weeks). Playoffs will consist of Quarterfinals (3rd vs 6th, and 4th vs 5th). Classification Games (7th & 9th place) will be played same time as Quarterfinals. Semi-Finals (winners of Quarterfinals vs 1st & 2nd). Grand Final (Semi-Final winners).
For the Whelan Trophy Division Two, 8 teams will also compete:
The format for Division Two will consist of a full Round Robin (7 weeks). Then be put into pools of “Top Four” and “Bottom Four”. Competition points do not carry over into pools of four (10 weeks). Playoffs will consist of: Quarterfinals (3rd vs 6th, and 4th vs 5th). 7th vs 8th also play same round as Quarterfinals. Semi-Finals (winners of Quarterfinals vs 1st & 2nd). Grand Final (Semi-Final winners).
