2026 Winter Club Update

We shared some information with the clubs and schools that enter our weekend winter club competitions regarding the 2026 season

With 2026 now officially underway, and Parakiore having hosted some basketball events already, we wanted to keep you all informed about our 2026 plans for our Weekend Winter Club Competition. The following was sent to all the club and school administrators in December 2025:

  • Parakiore – We have now had it confirmed that we will be able to run basketball on all nine courts at Parakiore on Saturdays in 2026 (when there is not a regional/national/international event that the CCC prioritises above us – which would likely only affect the three court “show-court” area)! The puzzle-solving nature of getting as many bookings accommodated by the CCC has understandably taken longer than it normally does. We will still be utilising other venues too (normal Saturdays in 2025 used 16 courts)
  • 2026 CBA Draft weeks of playwe now hopefully have everything accounted for – there are a few things of note:
    • Rams’ 2026 home games – there are no clashes with Saturday Club Basketball, which should help both in terms of volunteers and attending games! You can see the full NBL schedule here
    • Mainland Rep Qualifying – this tournament clashes with the opening weekend of the season for some grades (18 April), so clubs with affected teams can advise me when entering if they wish to defer this game (due to the number of people involved in our reps teams)
    • ANZAC Day – CCC venues aren’t available for use until the afternoon on 25 April
    • BBNZ U16 Nationals – These are being run at Parakiore and finish on 18 July. The full BBNZ Tournament Calendar is visible here

  • Normal Timeslots – We are planning on having games run in 100-minute timeslots for as many games as possible. This will allow teams more time on-court to warm-up (ideally using BBNZ’s On-Point Game Ready Activation), and for Referee Trainers to be able to deliver feedback in a more relaxed timeframe
  • Female Grades – we have got to the stage where we will be running our G13, G16 and French Cup Grades on Saturdays. Discussions are still ongoing with other sports to minimise the number of players having to choose between sports, but at the moment we anticipate using the following parts of the day:
    • Saturday Mornings – Women’s Premier and G16 competitions run
    • Saturday Afternoons – French Cup and G13 competitions run
  • Sundays – Our Women’s and Men’s Division One Competitions will still be offered on Sundays, in similar timeslots to what we have used over the past decade
  • 2026 CBA Harmonised Calendarthis gives you a quick overview of what is being run in 2026
  • Finals Weekend – Saturday August 22 will be our Grand Finals Day for all the Club A grades (or single grades) that normally play on Saturdays, and Sunday August 23 will be when our Women’s and Men’s Division One Competitions will have their Grand Final
