52 Basketball Teams have made their way to Nelson to compete in the South Island Junior Secondary School Tournament, which tips off on August 23
his tournament is proudly brought to you by a dedicated Steering Group, following a 2024 decision by BBNZ to discontinue their involvement in these events. In response, the Canterbury and Otago Basketball Associations, in collaboration with other South Island Basketball Associations, stepped up to lead the initiative and ensure the continuation of this important competition under the sanction of School Sport New Zealand.
We are committed to ensuring this tournament remains a lasting fixture on the secondary school sports calendar for years to come. Our goal is to make it accessible, inclusive, and enjoyable for everyone who wishes to take part.
The Steering Group is made up of representatives from the Canterbury and Otago Basketball Associations, a regional sporting director, and a representative from the host association.
