What’s On – July 2026

Canterbury Basketball is running the following programmes and events in July 2026

July is best known for multiple representative tournaments – U18s, U16s, and the Mainland Tournament all take place this month. You can now easily click on any of the links below to find out more, or you can see everything in one place on our Events Calendar.

  • Winter Club Competition – we’re starting to see some teams staking claims that they’ll be competing in the playoffs
  • Cowles Primary Competitions start back up for Term Three! Find the Term Three draws here
  • Canterbury Schools Competition for  Year 7/8 students at Parakiore on Thursday Afternoons at Parakiore enter the second half of the competition
  • Thomson, Whelan and Grocott Trophy competitions continue
  • Aquapro Midweek Leagues continue at Parakiore
  • Corporate League will return to Parakiore Thursday Lunchtimes. Always in search of more companies to join. If you think your companies got what it takes we’d love to hear from you!

 

 

  • U18 Nationals take place July 8-11th in Auckland. CBA will send four teams, Boys’ A and B teams and Girls’ A and B teams
  • U16 Nationals take place July 15-18th at Parakiore Christchurch. CBA will send four teams, Boys’ A and B, and Girls’ A and B, teams
  • The 2026 Mainlands Tournament will also be hosted at Parakiore in Christchurch July 10th to 13th with 60+ teams from all over the South Island competing in the U16 and U19 grades

 

  • The U14 Coach Development Programme is open for registrations for players or parents wanting the national standard for starting their coach’s journey, or for coaches with 1-2 years experience wanting to learn and develop. https://canterbury.basketball/coachu14/

 

  • Inclusion League will return at Parakiore for Term Three at the back end of July. This runs on a Friday afternoon.
  • Our Have a Go! Wheelchair Basketball programme starts back up for Term Three at the end of July. Find all the details below:

 

  • Level 1 Workshop to be run on Thursday 2nd of July at Parakiore at 6pm for anyone who has completed the online portion of the course. Email Scott to register or talk to you club representatives, information is with the clubs.
  • New Referee Programs will begin being rolled out across Canterbury, including a return to the whistle program targeting all you former officials
  • Referee Trainers will be evaluating and training courtside at our weekend club competition
