Two community‑driven Midnight Basketball programmes will be running throughout Term 1, offering safe, engaging Friday‑night activities for young people across Christchurch. Both initiatives focus on providing access to social basketball, music, food, and a supportive environment led by local basketball organisations.
The Canterbury Basketball Association continues to host its Friday night Midnight Basketball sessions at Cowles Stadium, aimed at high‑school students. Each evening features casual, organised pick‑up basketball, music, free food, and transport home at the end of the night.

Dates:
Weekly from 20 February through 27 March
Time: 7:00 PM – 10:15 PM
Venue: Cowles Stadium
Audience: High‑school aged youth, ages 13-18

The Gators Basketball Club is also delivering a Friday night Midnight Basketball programme at Hornby High School, designed for high-school aged students. The programme provides weekly basketball sessions in a positive, inclusive environment, supported by free food and transport at the end of the night. To attend, youth must pre-register here.
