Day One of the SI Junior HS Tournament is now in the books, with 40 games across Nelson all completed
Day One presented a slightly more complex situation than normal for a tournament, with games being played across five different venues. This didn’t make any difference to the teams competing though, as it was clear that the predominant feelings were thankfulness and excitement.
Nelson Basketball’s General Manager Denise Coughlan summed the feeling up perfectly:
“We’re very excited to be able to host this for the y9/10 teams here.
“Lots of people have come up to me and my staff, and expressed how happy they are that there is still a tournament for this age group of High School players, and I am very happy to say that Day One has gone extremely well based on the games I’ve seen (at all five venues!)”
Day Two’s Draw will see the start of playoffs, with the Boys’ B Grade Preliminary Finals taking place at 6:30pm. The three other grades will reach their respective playoff stages on Day Three.
