It’s do or die for the Lincoln University Thomson Division One lads as tonight’s results will decide who makes top 8 for the next round.
We are heading into week three of our Lincoln University and NZ Charitable Trust competitions, with the Thomson Division One lads relying on tonight’s results.
Lincoln University Thomson Division One
Pool A have Christ’s College sitting out on a bye week having already qualified for Top 8, and Cashmere and Hillmorton battle it out in a must win match to decide who joins Christ’s College. My pick to win is Cashmere.
Pool B we have Rangiora who have comfortably qualified take on CBHS while St Bedes look to confirm their spot against Riccarton. Rangiora and St bedes both look good to win tonight.
Pool C Shirley Boys qualified after their win against St Thomas last week, where they also claimed the Dowsons Cup. This trophy is in play as they take on Kaiapoi. St Thomas look to make sure they get into the top 8 with their final pool game against Burnside High. While a burnside win would be a huge upset, I am picking St Thomas and Shirley to win this evening.
Our last pool have St Andrews (already qualified for top 8) taking on Middleton Grange, while Rolleston looks to secure top 8 placement against Ashburton. While St Andrews have my pick for the first match up, I think the second game could be close, but Rolleston will just come out on top.
Be sure to catch all the action in these must win games 7.30pm tip off.

Lincoln University Whelan Trophy Division One
Our ladies teams carry on as they are halfway through their first round.
CGHS host Kaiapoi, who look to be a close match up, especially with both teams beating Rangiora this year already. Kaiapoi look to take this W.
Cashmere are hosting Rangiora who while missing a couple players are still my pick to win this match.
And lastly St Andrews look to carry on their dominance with a visit from St Margarets, and with their results I’m picking St Andrews will claim another victory.
Last weeks pick success 3/3
Our Division Two girls had an upset with Hillmorton beating 2023 Division One team Avonside, so Avonside will be seeking redemption this week.
