BOSS BALLERS FOR HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS
Boss Ballers is a Basketball New Zealand programme that was
developed as a direct response to a strategic priority to accelerate
women and girls’ basketball participation and leadership. The
programme works with secondary schools to give local females an
opportunity to begin their leadership journey through coaching.
Boss Ballers creates an inclusive and supportive culture that ensures
participants have a safe environment to be vulnerable and challenge
themselves while learning and developing new coaching and
leadership skills that they can put into practice on and off the court.
The programme aims to introduce more young females to coaching
within the basketball system and encourages them to explore new
opportunities and pathways to continue their basketball journey- wherever it may take them.
The Boss Ballers Coaching and Leadership Course is
an opportunity for secondary school females to
sample coaching while developing their leadership
skills. The course enables students to use basketball
as a way to develop both hard and soft skills and gain
experience leading, activating, and empowering girls.
It is a blend of an introduction to coaching and
practical experience delivering Girls Got Game
sessions focus on providing fun participation
experiences for girls.
The workshop component of the course is delivered
by associations using BBNZ accredited facilitators
and/or Coach Developers.
Duration
The course is approximately 4 hours in total. There is
flexibility to deliver the sessions to suit the
participants and environment, ie. 2x 2 hours or 4x 1
hour workshop sessions.
We are booking for Term 4 and all terms in 2025 currently.
