The CBA have now appointed their new General Manager – read on to find out a little about him
The Board of Canterbury Basketball is proud to announce Andy Doherty as our new General Manager from January 2026.
“Andy has a wealth of experience in management of not for profits here in New Zealand and overseas.
“Born and bred in Christchurch, Andy is excited to be taking on the lead of a thriving team of professional sport managers in a sport where Canterbury has proven excellence across high performance, and inclusive participation across club-based competitions that involve more than 9000 players.”
Andy is enthusiastic about stepping into the role: “Basketball is growing locally, nationally, and internationally, and I am excited to join the sector in a sport that offers so much.
“I’m looking forward to joining, and leading the Canterbury Basketball Team, and meeting the wider basketball community in the New Year.”
Andy will be taking over from Clive Beaumont who is retiring to spend well deserved time with family.
The CBA Board thanks Clive for his strong leadership and positioning CBA well for its new chapter.
