This edition of our Miles Toyota Diaries looks at some of the things Lori McDaniel has been up to in her role
Lori has one of the widest areas of responsibility at Canterbury Basketball, as evidenced by her requiring two parts to her title: Community Coach and Women’s Development Manager.
The coach development part of her job sees her delivery courses to ensure the people leading teams in our region (from South to North Canterbury) are certified. The new Kiwi Hoops and FIBA Level One courses are proving very very popular with their registrations, so she is constantly adding new course dates (if you haven’t signed up yet, and need to, click here)
Her role as Women’s Development Manager covers our most junior, to our most senior female teams. She travelled to Nelson as a coach mentor for the U13 girls, and to Ashburton for Coach support and program development at the Mainland tournament. with over 180 boys and girls in the representative program from April until July Lori’s expertise and support was invaluable.
She would also help run the Mainland Eagles Morning sessions, as well as having individual player meetings with young female basketball to make sure their development follows a coherent plan.
Most people will also know that Lori has been the Head Coach of the Alloyfold Canterbury Wildcats – back to back champions in 2016 and 2017 (which is why her vehicle is so eye-catching!) Lori can always be contacted through her email address lori@canterbury.basketball if you need to try and get her help with one of her areas!.
