What’s On – May 2026

Canterbury Basketball is running the following programmes and events in May 2026

All of our Winter Club Competitions will be in action this month. You can now easily click on any of the links below to find out more, or you can see everything in one place on our Events Calendar.

 

  • Winter Club Competition – Every grade on Saturdays and Sundays will be up and running
  • Corporate League returns for Term 2 on Thursdays at Parakiore. If your business is keen to get involved please reach out to scott@canterbury.basketball
  • Canterbury Schools Competition for Year 5/6 and 7/8 students at Parakiore on Thursday Afternoons at Parakiore. For more info reach out to scott@canterbury.basketball. Entries are subject to involvement in club primary competitions.
  • Thomson, Whelan and Grocott Trophy competitions return for the 2026 season.
  • Aquapro Midweek league is back with six teams in each grade.

 

  • BNZ Kiwi Hoops is back on in term two with first sessions on Monday 4th May. In school offerings also available at request. Contact sam@canterbury.basketball to book in a time.
  • We’re excited to announce the opening of the new Skills Factory:
    • 7 weeks per term ($140 for 7 weeks)
    • Two sessions per week: Mondays & Fridays (you can register for both or either)
    • Commencing: Week beginning Monday 4 May 2026
    • All sessions are designed and led by Adam Morgan, supported by experienced coaches.
  • Also the Junior skills factory for U14 players will run on Tuesday only
  • GGG in school offerings are available at request. Contact sam@canterbury.basketball to book in a time.

 

  • The U20 Men and Women build up to the National Tournament which is held over King’s Birthday
  • U16 and U18 Rep teams start their National Build up campaign for their respective National Tournaments in July

 

  • Inclusion League is back for 2026. Games will be played on Friday afternoons at Parakiore. If you are keen to get involved or help out with refereeing please contact scott@canterbury.basketball

 

  • Continued Level 0 courses around clubs/schools
  • Level 1 Workshop to be run for anyone who has completed the online portion of the course. Email Scott to register your interest
  • Referee Trainers will be evaluating and training courtside at our weekend club competition
