Week Two Picks for Thomson, Whelan and Grocott

More excitement this week as we bring on week two of our Lincoln University Thomson and Whelan, and NZCT Grocott Trophies.

This week’s match ups look to bring a few great contests with several hard picks to make.

All Thomson games tip off at 7.30pm Tuesday!

Starting with Lincoln University’s Division One Thomson Trophy.

Pool One Cashmere sit out with a bye week, while Christ’s College travels to Hillmorton. My pick for this matchup has to go to Christ’s College to follow up on their performance against Cashmere.

Pool Two has Rangiora take on St Bede’s in what is likely to be a physical match up. With Rangiora’s current results, I expect to see them take the W. While our other match up in Pool Two should be another close match with Riccarton taking on CBHS. While likely to be close I am picking CBHS to take the win.

Pool Three provides the Dowson’s Cup up for grabs as current holders St Thomas host Shirley Spartans (who beat them preseason). My pick goes to a St Thomas team who will surely be out to get a win back.  And Kaiapoi take on Burnside which should again be a close match.

Our last pool has Rolleston heading to St Andrews, where I think we will see a good show. While close I think St Andrews will just take the cake. And our final Div 1 matchup is Middleton hosting Ashburton. Which again could be a great show, but hosts Middleton have my pick.

Last week’s pick success 7/7

Next up Division Two for Lincoln University Thomson Trophy

Lincoln host Cathedral College

Rangiora NLS host Hornby

Darfield and Oxford play each other at Cowles Stadium

Hagley host Papanui

Last week’s picks  3/4

Now the Ladies in Lincoln University Whelan Trophy

Round One definitely had an upset for Rangiora, but they look to regain strength against St Margarets, with Rangiora expected to win.

St Andrews could be challenged this week against preseason runner up’s Kaiapoi. Although St Andrews are still expected to come out on top.

Lastly CGHS take on Cashmere. CGHS are the likely winners, especially after a great result last week.

Last week’s picks 2/3

Our Division Two Ladies see all teams take the court, with Middleton and Avonside for the first time this season.

Rolleston are heading to Villa.

Rangi Ruru are out at Rangiora NLS.

Middleton take on Burnside/Papanui combined.

Ashburton come to play Hagley.

Hillmorton host Avonside.

Last week’s picks 4/4

All Whelan games tip off at 5.45pm at their respective venues.

And lastly, the young lads in NZCT Grocott Trophy.

A couple massive results last week, but this week may be more challenging.

Rangiora Junior A host Shirley Boys.

Hillmorton take on St Bedes played Monday evening. PS I haven’t checked the result before writing this!

St Thomas host Christ’s College.

Lincoln host Cashmere.

Kaiapoi host Ellesmere.

Last weeks picks 3/5

Good luck for tonight’s games as I believe we will be seeing a few close match ups and maybe even overtime played.
