Macca’s Week Four Update

We improved our picking percentages ever so slightly last week, and were perfect in the #MaccasTT Division two picks – how will we fare this week?

Round Four started off with St. Margaret’s falling to a Christchurch Girls’ High Team with renewed focus, 85-40, but this week will likely be pretty close to desperation time with some Thomson teams in desperate need of a win if they want to make the top six.

These schools are hosting double-headers (at 5:15pm and 7:00pm):

  • Avonside and Shirley are hosting Ashburton College and Rangiora High in Whelan and Thomson action – the Spartans/Rangiora game should be a cracker as our “Game of the Week”
  • Burnside High will have both Cashmere teams visiting, with the boys team having a chance to grab the Dowson Cup off of Cashmere – who won it from them in 2017
  • Hornby High’s new gym will have Villa Maria coming, and then the new kids on the block, Te Pā O Rākaihautū
  • Kaiapoi will battle against last season’s beaten finalist Rangi Ruru, and then the high scoring boys’ team from Cathedral College
  • Riicarton High has the same school double header against Papanui
  • St. Andrew’s has a must win game against Hillmorton, and then the Phil Burns Cup Challenge doubles as our “Whelan Trophy Game of the Week” when they face off against Rangiora High

In single game 5:15pm tip-offs we have the following games scheduled:

  • Ellesemere College hosts the Lincoln High Whelan team
  • Linwood college has a match against their neighbours from Haeata
  • Rangiora high will be the site for Rangiora New Life hosting the boys’ team from Hagley

7:00pm also has some intriguing matchups:

  • Christchurch Boys’ High and Christ’s College will both be desperate for a win here to try and make the top six
  • Middleton Grange Gators and St. Bede’s are both 2-1, with the winner here likely booking their spot in the top six
  • St. Thomas will host Ashburton College – with a win here for the Saints likely getting them in the top six.
