It’s a repeat of the 2022 Thomson Trophy Grand Final, as St. Thomas will try and reverse last year’s result against Christ’s College
#1 Seed St. Thomas boasts an unblemished record this season (9-0), but face the two-time defending champs #4 Christ’s College (6-3), who are also the defending National Champions from 2022 too.
Joe Hammond (Head Coach, St. Thomas) has his team back in the Grand Final, and is looking forward to the chance to get payback against the same school they faced in this very game last season. “We are really looking forward to this match up against a very talented Christs College team, and feel very fortunate to be in our second straight final!
“Our boys have worked very hard, so it is awesome to see their efforts get them to the Final!”
St. Thomas won their playoff game against the Shirley Boys’ High Spartans in a 108-78 rout, and beat Christ’s College in their only meeting 94-85, but have a big question-mark hanging over the availability of star point guard Louie Gordon.
Key players to watch from the STC team:
Quinn Clinton (Head Coach, Christ’s College) has taken the reigns of a young, but talented Christ’s team, and has them back in the final, in what was meant to be a “rebuilding” year. “We’re looking forward to the match up with the super talented St. Thomas team.
“They’ve been the team to beat all season and we’re looking forward to this challenge. They’re well coached and play the game the right way so we will need to bring our best effort and focus come Tuesday.”
Christ’s College went on the road and defeated St. Bede’s 89-76 to reach the semi-final round, where they scored a come from behind, overtime, win against St. Andrew’s (102-95).
