EOI – Mainland Team Players and Coaches

We are now advertising for coaches and players for the upcoming U15 and U17 Canterbury Basketball Association Mainland Team trials.

Mainland teams are for Canterbury Metro Area athletes that are not currently on a CBA Representative Team (reserves on these teams are eligible to trial) and are interested in developing their game skills and knowledge. U15 (turning 14 or 15 in 2021) and U17 (turning 16 or 17 in 2021) teams will be selected in both genders.

Trial and Programme Details:

  • U15 and U17 Girls 430pm-6pm At St Thomas of Canterbury College Saturday May 1st
  • U15 and U17 Boys 4-6pm At St St Thomas of Canterbury College Sunday May 2n
  • Once Teams are selected, trainings will be in camp format (multiple sessions) on the following dates: May 14th and 15th , Monday June 5th,  One other June date TBC, Sunday July 11th
  • The Mainland Regional Tournament is being hosted in Christchurch July 18-20th

Coaches

We will also be appointing coaches for these teams, so are asking for people interested in developing their coaching to apply.

Mainland Coaches get the opportunity to:

  • Learn more about our Regional Style of Play
  • Develop their practice planning and game management skills
  • Improve their knowledge of coaching in a camp and tournament format
  • Work with players who have a passion for basketball and a desire to improve
  • Be supported in their development by the CBA

Ideal Commitment:

  • Attend trials (times listed above)
  • Attend one planning and induction meeting in Term Two
  • Attend three camps over the course of Term Two (normally 3 sessions over the course of a weekend)
  • Coach a team at the Mainland Tournament held in Christchurch July 18th-20th
