Building on a successful inaugural season, the high-pressure development league will retain its unique 4 overtime segment structure, and incorporate a practice when teams have a “bye” to cover core skills and concepts within CBA’s SOP.

We’re also excited to announce a partnership with the Mainlands Eagles, that will see all Eagles players participate in Signature League.

The five-week evening leagues to be run in term 4 and term 1 (5 weeks per term) beginning Tuesday November 5th (Boys/Men) and Wednesday 6th (Girls/Women) in term 4 2024. Players must have played in the rep/mainlands programme or have aspirations to do so.

Times and location (note players must arrive 30min early for “war room” and warm up):

U16 Girls (born 2010, 2011): Wednesday, 5pm – 6.30pm @ Shirley Avonside

U18 Women (born 2008, 2009): Wednesday, 630 tip off – 8pm finish @ Shirley Avonside

U20 Women (born 2006, 2007): Wednesday, 630 tip off – 8pm finish @ Shirley Avonside

U16 Boys (born 2010, 2011): Tuesday, 5pm tip off – 6.30pm finish @ Shirley Avonside

U18 Boys (born 2008, 2009): Tuesday 6.30 tip off – 8pm finish @ Shirley Avonside

U20 Men (born 2007 +): Tuesday, 8pm tip off – 930pm finish @ Shirley Avonside

[Please note, we may slightly alter times depending on registration numbers and some players my be asked to play up a grade if that’s what’s best for their development]

Games will use the same structure of:

  • Four x 5 minute overtime stop clock periods and two x 15 minute training blocks,
  • Scores reset at the end of each period,
  • 2 league points per period won, 1 per drawn and 0 for a loss,
  • All teams will have a 30min “war room” session prior to each game.

Players will individually register into the boys or girls U16, U18 and U20 (for the 2024 rep season) divisions by the deadline of Monday November 4th. The programme cost is $97.50, spaces are limited and registrations close Monday 28th of October. Coaches will then draft all registered players into even strength teams of 7-8 players. All players must wear their respective associations reversible singlet.  Players can register here.

Coaches will be selected from the pool of 2024 rep and mainland program coaches wishing to develop along the CBA coach development pathway. They will be supported by CBA coach developers. If you are interested, EOIs will be open October 18th or you can email Ben@canterbury.basketball.

Referees will be selected from the engaged and committed pool of community referees.
