No Weekend Basketball on 28-29 August 2021

It doesn’t appear that it will be safe to exit Level Four (or Three) for some time, so we will not be playing this weekend regardless of the announcement on Friday afternoon

There are two main reasons for this:

  • we want each team playing to have approximately one week to get together as a team and prepare to play
  • The CCC have said they need at least a few days to make sure all their protocols for all their facilities are updated accordingly, and their staff are upskilled in this regard

This means the earliest date we will resume basketball would be the weekend of September 4th-5th  (i.e. if we know we will drop to level two between August 28th and September 1, we will play approximately one week after the announcement). If we can’t restart playing until towards the end of September, then we would expect to need more days for teams to physically re-start practicing (closer to seven days).

We have no “drop-dead” date in mind where we would be forced to cancel the remainder of the season, and our preference would be to conclude as close to the original planned date as possible. If it looks like we cannot get finals done before Term Three Holidays begin (Sunday 3 October), we will discuss options with the affected teams.

First Team Award Winners

Thank you for all the votes. We have now got everything sorted except for one grade, so will be emailing the winners directly, and announcing these on our facebook page
